I specialize in building data warehouses and analytics solutions, combining my strong analytical background with practical software development experience. My work spans from implementing ETL pipelines and developing web applications to conducting advanced statistical analyses. I'm passionate about turning data into actionable insights and building tools that make data more accessible and meaningful.
I primarily create data warehouses for large oil and gas companies using the tech stack of their choice. This includes staging data from various sources, transforming it within the warehouse, then loading it into data sets used for reporting and analytics. Technologies include Dagster, dbt, duckDB, SQL Server, SSIS, Databricks, and Power BI. The job is very client-facing, including trips to Calgary and Denver to discuss solutions. I also built out Dakota's first two web applications, one using Django and the other using Vue.
I conducted constrained-PCA on task-state fMRI data in MATLAB to extract the functional brain networks involved in intelligence and lexical decision. I then performed ANOVAs on the networks to find relationships with behavioural variables like age and income. I used these results to contribute to academic papers (see publications). I also programmed automation scripts in Python that report the results of the fMRI analyses.
Tutored high-school students in mathematics, physics, and statistics. I also taught credit courses in calculus and functions.
Awards: 2021 NSERC USRA: placed mass constraints on 21 single-particle extensions to the standard model of particle physics.
Coursework: machine learning, fluid mechanics, statistical mechanics, and quantum field theory.
Teaching: I taught 4 first year lab courses of roughly 30 students each. This included lecturing on physics principles and using software (Excel/Python) to analyze data.
Research: I worked with UofT's balloon astrophysics group assembling
and integrating a balloon-borne telescope called SuperBIT.
We designed and built the components to NASA's standards at their balloon facility in Texas. SuperBIT
launched from Wanaka, New Zealand in the spring of 2023, and took some pretty pictures. The data is now being used to
advance our understanding of dark matter.
Awards: Science Scholar, Dean of Science Scholarship, 2020 NSERC USRA.
Coursework: calculus, linear algebra, mechanics, thermodynamics, circuitry, electronics labs, etc.
Teaching: Teaching assitant for introduction to general relativity, and lab instructor for two first year lab courses.
Research: Brain networks involved in fluid intelligence and lexical decisions (see above).
A web app for visualizing health and nutritional data from the CDC. The app automatically generates graphs and statistics, providing a fun (and perhaps informative!) experience.
A web app that calculates and displays Clebsch-Gordan Coefficients. That is, it converts the angular momenta states of two quantum mechanical systems into those of the combined system (or vice versa). Alternative methods, like using a CG coefficient table, are outdated and clunky.
I'm into fantasy hockey and one of the guys is outright dominating the league. I wanted to estimate the odds of him not winning the playoffs, so I perfomed the analysis and presented the entire explanation here.
NHL Points Predictor. An ongoing exploration of models that attempt to predict NHL players' point totals given their stats partway through the season.
I worked with UBC's neurotechnology student team to design and build an EEG acquisition system intended for home automation. I focused on the signal processing of the EEG data, collaborating with the ML team to classify brain activity.

Compassion Services, a non-profit organization I co-founded a few years ago that laboured in the community in exchange for charitable donations. The money we raised provided $20,000 in scholarships to high-school students and helped fund the construction of a well in Nepal.
